It may be said that Ghana is quickly rising to the top of the list of places to celebrate Christmas. The nation has developed into a hotspot throughout the years, and this was seen once more during the most recent season.

Dancehall, Afro-pop, Amapiano, Reggae, R&B, and Hip-Hop music erupted from major beaches to event hubs across the nation during the Xmas celebrations, which prominently featured a flood of entertaining activities. These events typically began in the evening and ended in the early morning hours.

Last year’s Christmas was surely the enjoyable experience (Detty December) revelers dreamed for with nonstop beach parties, all-day street festivals, all-night concerts with popular foreign and local acts, and fashion presentations.

The Ghana Tourism Authority approved more than 50 activities for the ‘December in GH’ celebrations, giving party-goers a wide range of options to choose from.

Security

The Detty December celebrations began without incident since there were sufficient security measures in place to prevent incidents that would harm the reputation of the nation.

At the various venues, there were on-site ambulance and paramedic teams, fire service, police security, metal detectors, private security, and military police. Attendees were also subjected to thorough bag searches. Even while unexpected occurrences were rare, the heavy traffic on main highways made driving for revelers and other drivers challenging.

Routes near the Accra Sports and El-Wak stadiums, where the Afro Nation and Afrochella events, respectively, were rather stressful for drivers and passengers that trafficked those routes since they got stuck in traffic for lengthy hours, but as they say, all’s well that ends well.

Value for money & time
Even before the festivities started, pleasure seekers expected a lively scene, and they were not disappointed.
A patron at Afrochella said: “This is my first time attending Afrochella and I must say it has been the nicest Christmas celebration I have ever had and I can’t wait for the next edition because I will still travel all the way from Takoradi to Accra just to come and have fun.”

Another patron at Afro Nation festival, Desmond Cooke, said: “I think the events’ planners were on top of their game because they gave us the best set design, performance, and performer lineup. I think they still provided us with value for our money even though the celebration was stopped abruptly on the second day.”
